NATO has been open to send heavy weapons to Ukraine for the first time since the beginning of the conflict in the face of the potential resurgence of the Russian invasion and of the war dragging on over time. In this sense, Stoltenberg considered that kyiv needs “urgently” more military support before the new phase in which the warlike event enters with the regrouping of Russian troops and the potential offensive against the Donbass region.
“It is important that the allies are ready to reinforce assistance to Ukraine with both heavy and light systems. This has an effect every day on the ground”he expanded when asked if NATO will send tanks to Ukraine.
The former Norwegian prime minister defended the shipment of anti-tank weapons, air defense systems and various advanced weapons devices. “The totality of what the allies do is significant and includes light and heavy systems”reinforced Stoltenberg, quoted by the news agencies AFP and Europa Press.

On February 24, Russia launched a military offensive in Ukraine under the justification that the kyiv government had been committing crimes against the inhabitants of two Russian-speaking provinces. in the Donbass region which Moscow had previously recognized as independent states.
The Kremlin’s claim includes the Ukraine’s violation of the Minsk Peace Accordsfrom 2014 and 2015, which forced kyiv to give those two provinces –Luhansk and Donetskwhich in separate referendums voted to separate from Ukraine-autonomy and the possibility of electing their own regional authorities.
Ukraine, on the other hand, affirms that with the military operation Russia intends to destroy Ukrainian culture and historyand overthrow President Volodomir Zelensky to encourage a leader close to Moscow to come to power.
