The new season of the Supersport World Championship begins next weekend for 21-year-old Attnanger Maximilian Kofler in Aragon (Spain). After two years in the Moto3 World Championship he makes a triple debut: For the first time he is at the start of a Supersport race on the new Ducati V2 Panigale in the colors of his new Italian team CM Racing Team.
“I think the bike suits me very well with the larger machine,” says Kofler, who is working hard on himself during the winter break to make the switch from a Moto3 driver to a super athlete. “The training has changed completely, I did a lot more strength training and built up almost five kilos of muscle mass,” reports Kofler.
The significantly heavier, but also more horsepower bike of the Supersport World Championship demands more from the driver than the light Moto3 bikes. “In addition, there are two races on one weekend. That will certainly be much more strenuous,” the young Austrian looked ahead. He has not set a specific goal for the season.
