New Linz logo provokes mixed reactions

The reactions are divided, which is also shown by a survey on nachrichten.at. Of the 904 participants (as of yesterday evening), around 47 percent didn’t like the new logo, around 31 percent think it’s a good idea, and the rest simply “don’t care”.

The reactions of the city government are also mixed. Environmental Councilor Eva Schobesberger (Greens) finds it refreshing that the logo is so colorful and allows for many different options.

Security City Councilor Michael Raml (FP) comments: “It does not trigger any jumps in the air, as the reactions from the population show, it is not entirely clear to many.” However, he believes that one should not invest too much time and energy in discussing the logo, as there are much more pressing issues at the moment, such as rising energy prices.

No clear identity recognizable

Neo-Vice-Mayor Martin Hajart (VP) notes with regard to the logo that tastes differ: “Personally, I would have done it differently because consumers and tourists are not entirely clear about the identity behind it.” He was not involved in the development process that was just dealing with it. But he would see this question of identity from the point of view: Where does the city come from (keyword history) and where does it want to go? In the case of the latter, according to Hajart, the advance should clearly go in the direction of a prosperous city with a high quality of life.
