A beaming smile for a great get-together – since last week, a sun-yellow smiley, visible from afar, has been adorning the lush green meadow below the Pöstlingberg in Linz. More than 10,000 pansies from the Dopetsberger nursery were placed on the meadow by nine eager helpers. There they are supposed to bring a smile to the faces of all those who walk past them or even look at the smiley face from afar.
More than two years of pandemic have left their mark on everyone. Negative news shaped everyday life. The OÖ Nachrichten now want to counter this development together with their readers – and a smile can only be helpful. “It is high time to heal the fractures that have occurred and to rediscover the lightness of being despite the heaviness of everyday life”, says OÖN editor-in-chief Susanne Dickstein about the campaign. This is exactly why the stories of the OÖN spring series should encourage and create more cohesion in society.

And a smile or two – similar to the Pöstlingberg. Brigitte and Christian Mayer are happy to make their meadow available for this spring campaign: “If we can help bring people together a little bit more, that’s thanks enough for us”says Christian Mayer.
From a regional nursery, the color is also clearly visible from the Donaulände and the Nibelungen Bridge and is also weather-resistant: more than 10,000 pansies will characterize the Mayer family’s meadow until the end of April. Then the readers should also enjoy the yellow flowers. In the spirit of sustainability, the flowers will be distributed to all those who would also like to be part of this smile from the OÖ Nachrichten.
