A joint transport concept is intended to explore how strengthening public transport can help to avoid commuter traffic jams on the bridge approaches and improve the region’s climate balance. Upper and Lower Austria have agreed on the implementation of the concept with the municipalities of Enns, Ennsdorf, St. Valentin, St. Pantaleon and Mauthausen. The final project report should be available in March 2023.
At the first working meeting between Transport Provincial Councilor Günther Steinkellner (FP) and the Vice Mayor of Linz, Martin Hajart (VP), who is now responsible for transport, the Nibelungen Bridge and the improvements for cycling and pedestrian traffic from 2024 (keyword: release of the Westring Bridge) were topics, as well as the light rail and the new trolleybus lines.
