Now it’s been two years of construction work until the cultural center and the new music school have taken shape. Striking are the gold panels used to panel the façade, a homage to the color of the brass.
City Councilor for Culture Leopold Feilecker (SP) and Mayor Kerstin Suchan-Mayr (SP) have now confirmed the completion date, which was announced at the topping-out ceremony last summer: The VAZ, whose name can be voted on by citizens (rathaus@st-valentin. at or Tel. 07435/5050) will open in February 2023 with a performance by the choir “Ad Libitum” and the orchestra “Barucco”. When choosing a name, you can choose from “Schmukk”, “Valentum” and “Im Zentrum”. The post of head of the house has already been assigned to Ulrike Gruber, a tourism expert from St. Valentin, who is to manage performances, rentals and the programme.
Not unchallenged are the cost statements with “approx. 11 million euros net to date”. VP City Councilor Andreas Pum recalls that the municipal council had already decided on a framework of 12.648 million euros net in September 2020. If you factor in the architect’s fee, land, contract extensions and inflation, the VAZ will not cost less than 18 million. Feilecker admitted a sum of 16 million euros in total costs.
