Klinikum Steyr: hospital beds for North Macedonia

In recent years, the PEK Steyr has completely switched to fully electric beds. Disposing of the mechanical beds that had been sorted out was out of the question for Helmut Hundegger, Head of the Bed Center.

“These beds are still fully functional. We kept some in our camps for emergencies. These mechanical beds are also used for teaching in health and nursing schools,” says Hundegger. Nevertheless, there was a large surplus that he did not want to dispose of: “So I organized this donation in consultation with the collegial management and the Macedonian embassy.”

1400 km journey

Doctor Finka Serafimova Dushkov, envoy from the North Macedonian Embassy in Vienna, personally picked up the sickbeds in Steyr. After a total of 1400 kilometers and around two days of travel, the beds arrived at the new locations in hospitals in the two cities of Bitola and Resen, where they will be used again as soon as possible.
