The 24-year-old from Mühlviertel was driving his car on the L1438 in the direction of Waldhausen im Strudengau early on Friday evening. At kilometer 1.745, the young driver wanted to drive past a car that was parked on the right-hand side of the road and probably broke down, and overlooked the oncoming car of a 33-year-old who was traveling in the opposite direction with his mother. The collision resulted in the 33-year-old’s car being thrown into the field.
All three people involved suffered injuries and were taken to the Amstetten State Hospital by the Red Cross. Both cars were totaled.
The driver of the car stopped at the side of the road is not yet known. Police say he left the scene before emergency services arrived. He is asked to report immediately to the Grein Police Inspectorate on 059133/4323/100.
