Drunk Innviertler (36) beat police officers to the hospital

The 36-year-old was in contact with the police twice on Friday evening: First, the officers were alerted to the drunk’s apartment in Braunau because he is said to have banged loudly against walls. In the subsequent investigation, he behaved cooperatively.

Shortly after the officers left the apartment, the police received another report that the man was now yelling. When the police officers visited the apartment for the second time, the 36-year-old reacted extremely aggressive. He lunged at the officers and punched and elbowed one of them in the face, injuring him.

The man was subsequently arrested and injured his foot himself, which did not prevent him from constantly insulting the officers. The injured police officer was unable to continue his duty and had to be treated in the Braunau hospital.

After sobering up, the accused was questioned on Saturday morning. Aside from his alcohol-related memory lapses, he was self-confident and willing to repair the damage. Reports to the public prosecutor’s office in Ried and the district authority in Braunau will follow.
