For the first time in eleven weeks there are fewer than 200,000 confirmed actively infected people, and the number of intensive care patients has fallen to less than 200.
In Upper Austria there were 1,648 new infections and 23,566 actively detectable cases. A total of 292 people had to be treated in hospital, 14 of them in intensive care.
The number of people who died from or with Covid remains high: 18 deaths were reported nationwide on Sunday. In total, the pandemic has claimed 16,226 lives in Austria since it broke out.
Lowest vaccination rate
The corona vaccination helps against a severe course. Nationwide, 68.8 percent of the population has a valid vaccination. The rate is highest in Burgenland (75.1), lowest in Upper Austria (64.5).
