As European Union, we are doing everything we can to stop the bloodshed Russia is causing in Ukraine: through diplomacy, sanctions, economic support and weapons for Ukraine.

“Stop blaming sanctions. It is the Russian military that is causing food shortages”Borrell insisted, the AFP news agency reported. He made the remarks after UN Office for Food and Agriculture (FAO) warned last week that world food prices reached a record high in marchafter Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, a agricultural power.
The FAO warned about fears of a world hunger crisis as a result of both the February 24 invasion and subsequent international sanctions on Russia. Concerns were especially acute in Middle East and Africawhere collateral effects were already taking place.

For its part, Russia and Ukraine possess vast grain-producing regions that are among the world’s leading breadbaskets.. Their harvests represent a much of the world’s exports of several important commodities, including wheat, vegetable oil, and corn.
In the last three years, Russia represented about 30% of world exports of wheat and corn, and Ukraine a twenty%as estimated by the FAO.
