In his speech, Traunkirchen’s mayor Christoph Schragl (VP) made no secret of his joy that something had finally come of the project. “This is an investment in the future,” said the mayor. “We invest in safety for the benefit of all people in Traunkirch. I am very proud of our fire brigade and the comprehensive services they provide to society.”
The firefighters also bring in a lot of their own work, according to Schragl. Fire brigade commander Erich Peer added: “It is a great need for us to work with us ourselves and to contribute our manpower and our know-how.” The extension will be available primarily for the areas of respiratory protection, youth and team.
The Traunkirchen volunteer fire brigade does a great job in terms of safety, Peer emphasizes and recalls events in the recent past: “Be it a traffic accident on the busy Salzkammergut road, the B145, a fire, a rock fall, a diving operation or even a Boat use on the lake.” The Traunkirchen fire brigade and its members are always there when help is needed, said Commander Peer.
In addition to the commander, his deputy Christian Thallinger and Mayor Schragl, numerous comrades from the volunteer organization also attended the ground-breaking ceremony for the new fire station. Now that the building negotiations have been completed, the work is to be tackled quickly. Completion is planned for the summer.
