The junction of Pfarrhofweg-Güterweg Obergebiet with the B 154 is particularly dangerous because it is blatantly prone to accidents (14 accidents in the past six years). Here the steep embankment is to be filled and the Güterweg Obergebiet is to be widened on both sides at the junction with the B 154 in a quasi trumpet shape . “It should be completed by the end of May,” said Mayor Pfarl with confidence.
Another dangerous spot is also to be defused in the short term: the crossroads between Dorfstrasse and Güterweg Oberschwand and the B 154. This will also be frequented more frequently by cyclists in the future, because a crossing is necessary here in order to get from the Haslau cycle path to the Mondsee-Oberhofen cycle path .
“We actually wanted a stop sign, but that’s not possible because of the sufficient visibility,” said the mayor. Therefore, in addition to the priority board that has already been installed, there are floor markings and information signs.
Roundabout not possible
In 2021, a citizens’ application, supported by the SPÖ, for the construction of a roundabout at the intersection of Vöcklatalstraße and the B 154 was submitted to the community.
However, this is not possible because it would require a diameter of 50 meters, says Pfarl. This could only be achieved with the assignment of land by four private owners. Since only a four-beam roundabout can be built, a resident would no longer have access. In addition, the necessary parameters such as accident frequency are missing at this intersection, which is why the state would not participate financially. For Zell am Moos, the project would not be able to handle itself with costs of almost two million euros.
The real problem at this intersection is the morning traffic. Untying this knot should only be possible in the course of future development of the neighboring Seewirt grounds.
