voestalpine is continuing to expand its company childcare offering. To this end, she is constructing a new building on Schnopfhagenstrasse. Around ten million euros would be invested in the project and the new vivo children’s world by spring 2023, as the company announced on Tuesday.
The vivo children’s world of voestalpine has existed since 1994 and is currently located at the Lunzerstrasse location. There is space for around 90 children in three kindergarten and four crèche groups. At the new location, there should be almost twice as many. From May 2023, around 170 children – between the ages of one and six years – will be cared for by 24 employees in Schnopfhagenstrasse.
The compatibility of work and family has become increasingly important in recent years, said Hubert Zajicek, Member of the Management Board of voestalpine AG and Head of the Steel Division, at the ground-breaking ceremony last week. By increasing the number of childcare places, “we can support our employees even better and give them more family time”. Offers such as the vivo children’s world are also important with a view to promoting and supporting women in technology. “It is important to us that women can work part-time after maternity leave and return to production. Flexible childcare that is tailored to specific needs is essential for this,” said Zajicek.
According to the company, there are also considerations to extend the opening hours at the new location.
Photovoltaic system on the roof
Sustainability is a top priority in the new building project. The complex will be built in solid brick construction, regional building materials will serve as heat and cold storage. A photovoltaic system is to be installed on part of the roof area, which will provide renewable energy for the entire building. The other part of the roof area will be greened. Around 4,000 square meters of green space are available for the children outside.
