A neighbor noticed smoke around 2:30 p.m. and sounded the alarm. When the emergency services arrived, part of the facade was already fully engulfed in flames. Despite the rapid firefighting attack, the flames were able to spread through the facade and the full thermal insulation and spread to the roof.
In order to be able to fight the source of the fire, the tin roof had to be opened and removed with the help of a crane. The work turned out to be long and difficult. Around 5:30 p.m., the first fire brigade was able to move away again. The Walding, Rottenegg and Ottensheim fire brigades, the Red Cross and the police were in action.
No information was available on Tuesday evening about the cause of the fire or the extent of the damage. The police have started the investigation.
