The pupils of the Polytechnic School Perg set a sweaty sign for peace. Because there was dancing for a whole day in the school gymnasium – and for every hour the young people danced through, sponsorship money flowed into the donation fund for the people in Ukraine affected by the war.
“In the days before the marathon, our students looked for sponsors in their private lives and among local companies, who then supported this campaign financially,” says PTS Director Ludmilla Lumesberger. There was dancing in the school last Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with Tracey Giessauf and Karoline Kögler from the teaching team standing out as DJs and motivational professionals. After every hour of dancing, the students received a stamp in their dance pass. The more stamps were collected, the more the donation amount increased. “We’re not quite done with the billing yet, because we also have to add the net proceeds from the cake and grill buffet and the sale of non-alcoholic cocktails,” says Lumesberger.
The poly-dance marathon was loosened up by various interludes, such as a line dance basic course, a live demonstration with a didgeridoo, learning the basic waltz step and karaoke contributions from teachers and students.
