Vaz is the same legislator who this Monday denounced that Defense bought, and with an alleged overprice, more than 35,000 units of Viagraa drug to treat erectile dysfunction, intended for the Army, Navy, and Air Force.
According to the Transparency Portal, administered by the same Government, in 2021 the Army organized three auctions, in March, May and October, for the purchase of inflatable prostheses.
The products were destined for the Military Hospital of the São Paulo Area, in the state of São Paulo, and the Military Hospital of the Campo Grande Area, in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul.
According to Vaz’s complaint, the Executive paid between 50,000 and 60,000 reais (10,700 and 12,900 dollars) for each silicone prosthesis, between 10 and 25 centimeters.
The Defense portfolio reported that it will not comment on the issue, because andhe Army has “autonomy” to use the resources assigned by the Government.
“The Brazilian people suffer to obtain medicines in health units and a group is treated with very expensive prostheses,” protested Vaz, who promised to take the case to the Federal Public Ministry together with Senator Kajuru.
