Volleyball Bundesliga: UVC Ried secures fifth place and participation in the European Cup

“This season has been an incredible up and down, especially the bad luck with injuries was unbelievable at times. That’s why I’m all the more proud of the team for what they did this season under these difficult circumstances,” said UVC-Ried coach Dominik Kefer on Wednesday evening. In the second game for fifth place, the Rieder volleyball players kept the upper hand against Klagenfurt in the local Raiffeisen Volleydome with 3:1 (27:29, 25:14, 25:21,25:18). After losing the first set, Rieder came into play better and better and won the following three rounds. The Innviertler also won away with 3:1.

This means that UVC Ried will once again be playing in the European Volleyball Cup in the 2022/2023 season. For Rieder it is the fourth international participation in a row.

The contracts with successful coach Dominik Kefer, captain Tomek Rutecki and Felix Breit for the coming season have already been extended. Lutz also announced that the squad would be enlarged for the coming season. The goal is to get into the top four in the Bundesliga.

McDonald’s new main sponsor

Even before the game, those responsible for the club around UVC-Ried chairman Roman Lutz and marketing manager Peter Eglseer announced a change in the name sponsor. After seven years of UVC Weberzeile Ried, the club will start as UVC Mcdonald’s Ried with immediate effect. The Weberzeile, the shopping center in Ried, has been the main sponsor of Rieder for seven years since 2015. “It was seven very successful years with promotion to the Bundesliga, participation in the European Cup and the construction of the new hall. However, we will remain with the club as a partner,” said Christoph Vormair, center manager at Weberzeile.

“We have been sponsoring the UVC Ried as a premium partner for several years. Now we have decided to take over the main sponsorship because we want to support this regional club, which is doing a great job,” said Markus Stiflbauer from McDonald’s. The contract was concluded for three years.
