Yesterday was a horse festival. After a two-year break from the pandemic, around 3,000 visitors came to the traditional Rieder horse market. Horses have been raised in Ried since 1484.
In the morning, around 100 horses were presented to the expert jury for evaluation on the lower main square. The main square was already full. From 1 p.m., visitors flocked to the main square from near and far. An endless queue, starting at the Dim bookstore and ending at the end of the main square, enjoyed the parade in glorious weather and temperatures of around 20 degrees.
The sidewalk cafés were also able to look forward to good business. The organizers drew a positive conclusion. “This year’s change of date, away from Easter Tuesday, has definitely paid off. We already had a significantly higher number of visitors in the morning than in the years before the pandemic,” says Stefan Schmid, deputy chairman of the horse market committee.
