Astonishment about traffic committee on the bike

The next meeting of the transport committee on May 12 is to be completed on the bike – this was announced by transport officer Martin Hajart (VP) yesterday in a broadcast. The location: the Franck district, which is plagued by parking problems. The primary goal: exploring places where it makes sense to introduce short-term parking zones to make it easier for residents to find a parking space again using the resident card.

However, there was no unanimous approval for this, the SPÖ committee members (Arzu Büyükkal, Beate Gotthartsleitner, Florian Koppler and Paulina Wessela) immediately countered that this was a misrepresentation. Her view of things: It was only agreed that after the committee, some representatives would get an idea on site so that the parking situation could then be discussed further. It was definitely not agreed to “define possible short-term parking zones”.

Yesterday, when asked by OÖN, Hajart specified that cycling to the Franckviertel should only take place after the usual part of the meeting. With his broadcast, “he didn’t want to cause any trouble or slow anyone down.”

For Hajart, however, the on-site inspection has the purpose of sometimes raising where such short-term parking zones can be set up. This approach in combination with the resident cards is an important tool for the Franckviertel.

Traffic calming in the city center was also an issue in the committee. In addition to talks with representatives of the initiative, Hajart wants to see everything that “already exists” on the subject in the town hall. With the intention of presenting a package of measures at the end.
