A numbers person with a good sense of humour

Rudi, as his friends were allowed to call him, was born the son of a master glazier and grew up on Schörflinger Marktplatz. He studied global economics in Vienna and completed his training as a tax consultant. In 1967, he married his love, Ulrike, and they had three children (Reinhard was born in 1971, Irene in 1972 and Arnold in 1976), who in turn gave him five grandchildren.

Mayrhofer’s human diversity and his ability to pack so much life into a short space of time were enormous. In 1970, together with his wife, he founded the renowned tax consultancy firm in Schörfling and ran it together with his son Reinhard until his death. From 1979 to 1991 Rudi Mayrhofer was a member of the municipal council, was significantly involved in the founding of the local tennis club in the mid-1970s and was also involved in the construction of the marina in Kammer at the time.

“Our father was a very educated man with a wide range of interests and a sharp mind,” says Rudi’s daughter Irene Ackerlauer, who herself became the school principal at the BHAK/BHAS Linz-Auhof. “He was reliable with handshake quality, a numbers person and yet with a fine sense of humor.”

Hard work, reliability, determination, joy in life and the love of enjoying a good meal or a special drop here and there – all these were among the characteristics of the lovable Schörflinger. “He didn’t shy away from any task or challenge and always stood up for his opinion,” says the daughter. And: “Family was always important to him. Even as adults, we three children and our family always went on vacation with my parents. He and his wife had a real equal partnership, and they were in connected with deep love.”
