Work orders for companies are carried out in the Lebenshilfe workshops. In the wake of the corona crisis, however, some orders were lost, the Lebenshilfe-Werkstätte Eggerding is now available for new clients – to bridge the gap, grill lighters were launched as a new product.
Filling, sorting, labelling, simple assembly work: these are tasks that people with disabilities do for company partners at the Lebenshilfe-Werkstätte Eggerding. Working directly in the company as part of integrative employment is also a model.
“People with disabilities enjoy these tasks very much. Unfortunately, since Corona, we have not been working to capacity because we lost some orders due to the pandemic,” says Michael Fuchs, Lebenshilfe workshop manager in Eggerding.
In addition to cooperation partners such as SpektraLED in Andorf, Lectra in Taufkirchen, Grüne Erde in Neumarkt and Think in Kopfing, the start-up “Wormsystems” with its worm box has been a client of the Lebenshilfe-Werkstätte Eggerding since 2019. 200 kilos of a mineral blend are weighed to the gram weekly by people with disabilities, bagged and labelled, as well as rolls and accessories being packaged to expand the product.
“The support from Lebenshilfe has helped us a lot, internally these activities would be difficult to cover due to the company’s growth. Lebenshilfe does a great job and the cooperation works perfectly,” says Martina Eder from Wormsystems GmbH.
Grill lighter in the range
In order to keep the employees busy despite the fact that work orders are no longer available, the Lebenshilfe workshop has launched a new product: grill lighters. The sustainable product can be purchased in packs of 10 for EUR 3.50 from the Lebenshilfe workshop in Eggerding.
“We get good feedback on the functionality, the firelighters are often used for grills in the summer and for fireplaces and the like in the cold season,” says Michael Fuchs.
