If the Haidvogel Hall in Oepping were so full at every ball, the landlord would be happy. But it was the citizens’ information evening about the roundabout at the Grill crossing and the planned local supplier concept “Land revives” that drove the people of Oeppingen to the inn in droves. The citizen information should clear up with rumors about the topic. It has become a loud reckoning of some citizens with the municipal politics. The topics of roundabouts and local supply concepts, including petrol stations, seem too mixed up in people’s minds.
Roundabout for safety
There is a broad consensus that a roundabout at the Grill crossing would bring more safety with it. Only the financing meets with great displeasure – also in the community room. To connect the village of Kimmerting, the municipality would have to pay a quarter of the construction costs for the entire roundabout. “You cannot evaluate a federal highway and a freight route in the same way. We still have to find a better financing key here,” Mayor Thomas Bogner (VP) also knows. Otherwise, in terms of roundabout construction, it is realistic to start next year. The ball is now in the city council’s hands again. This must give the green light for the financing of the roundabout. In this area in particular, however, the last word should not yet have been spoken.
Local supply planned
There is a great deal of resistance, especially in the neighboring towns of Untergrünau and Kimmerting, to the Unimarkt Group’s planned local supply concept “Land revives”. This already has an existing option contract with the landowners at the planned roundabout. Bone of contention: “Land revives” also includes a gas station and a small bistro. “We don’t need or want a gas station,” said Hilde Wögerbauer, who also collected 300 signatures in the villages against the gas station. In addition to noise and light pollution, there are also fears of an increase in traffic in the settlements. The small bistro is also seen as competition for the existing gastronomy. You basically want a local supplier, but again in the center of town. Even Rudolf Manhartsgruber from the Unimarkt Group was unable to bring about a major rethink among the residents with his presentation of “Land revives”. About the location: “This is a 1A location. Anything else doesn’t make sense from our point of view. The fact that a gas station is also planned for the shop and bistro is part of the concept and will create additional income for the future operator.”
Only chance as a local supplier
Mayor Thomas Bogner sees the “Land revives” concept as the currently most realistic opportunity to close the local supply gap in the community. “It’s not like the interested parties are beating down the door. I think the concept suits us quite well,” he says.
