Not a centimeter of snow covers the landscape in notches. It’s still white everywhere. Every year during Holy Week, the country’s largest cherry-growing area is transformed into a sea of flowers that attracts numerous visitors.
Hikers and cyclists will not want to miss this natural spectacle again this year – a total of twelve freely accessible, signposted paths invite you to hike, Nordic walk or run in the nature park. On the approximately eleven kilometer long circular route, the view extends to the foothills of the Alps in the south and the Mühlviertel in the north. The five-kilometer “Roithamer Runde” or the Kronberg circular route are suitable for all those who prefer a smaller circuit.
Although the popular cherry blossom hike is not taking place this year, there are numerous farms and restaurants in Scharten with regional culinary offerings and entertainment programs. Up-to-date information is available on the internet at obsthuegelland.at
Competition: Lyrical tour of Kerschbliah
On the occasion of Franz Stelzhamer’s 220th birthday, the Grieskirchner original Hans Gessl, also known as Wetterhans, slips into the role of the Austrian poet. Exclusively for OÖNcard holders, we are giving away 25×2 places for a lyrical tour in Scharten to “Kerschbliah”, on Saturday, April 23rd, from 2 p.m.
Gessl, who has been dealing with the entire work of the Innviertler poet for 35 years, will surprise hikers with his varied thoughts about God and the world at particularly idyllic places. At the end there is a cozy get-together with a snack in the Firlingerhof.
