Covid Fighters start operations in Amstetten

The curve of the number of corona infections in Austria is going down again, the corona traffic light has been set to orange again in six federal states, and from April 16 the mask no longer has to be worn in all areas of public life. Nevertheless: Boris Fahrnberger, founder and managing director of Covid Fighters, wants to prepare for all eventualities that may arise from the pandemic and new virus mutations. “Our devices are all system-open and can be configured for a wide variety of uses,” says Fahrnberger.

In the future, the evaluation of Covid tests will be carried out in the former laundry in Greinsfurth, and a research laboratory will also be set up. For the time being, around 60 people are to find a new job at the Covid Fighters location, and capacities can be expanded to up to 300 employees at peak times.

Development for Amstetten

For Mayor Christian Haberhauer (VP), the settlement of the company is a great benefit for the municipality: “For Amstetten, this is an enormous enrichment – especially the new research facility. And that on an existing, currently vacant company site. For the sustainable development of the municipality Topics such as resource efficiency, soil sealing and empty space management are important topics. We want to continue on this path in the future.”

In addition to the already good facilities in the empty building, important arguments for the choice of location were the connection to the east-west axis, which means that the samples for evaluation can be delivered more quickly and there are fewer delays.

On the total area of more than 4700 square meters, operations are scheduled to start at the end of June. The Covid Fighters are investing almost eight million euros in the new location in Amstetten.
