According to figures from the Ministry of Health and the Interior (as of Sunday, 9.30 a.m.), this is below the average of 9,405 cases per day over the past seven days. The seven-day incidence fell to 733.1 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. 13 people have died since yesterday in connection with a Covid disease.
On Easter Sunday there were 132,507 active cases in Austria, 6,176 fewer than the day before. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 4,053,217 infections with SARS-CoV-2 have been confirmed in Austria. 3,904,290 people have since been reported recovered, with 13,571 reported recovered in the past 24 hours.
Lower Austria again reported the most new infections with 1,989, ahead of Vienna with 1,840 and Upper Austria with 1,118. 785 new infections were registered in Styria, 398 in Carinthia, 365 in Burgenland, 352 in Tyrol, 300 in Salzburg and 261 in Vorarlberg. Lower Austria is also the only federal state in which the seven-day incidence is still – just over 1,000 , on Sunday it was at 1,004.2. Vienna was also in four figures on Saturday, but fell to 973.0 by Sunday.
The 13 deaths were below the seven-day average of 27.7 daily. Since it broke out, the Covid 19 pandemic has claimed 16,420 lives in Austria. So far, 182.9 people per 100,000 inhabitants have died from or with Covid-19.
The hospital numbers continued to decline on the normal wards. 1,885 patients were hospitalized with Covid disease on Sunday, 99 fewer than on Saturday. Of them, 161 people were in intensive care units, one more patient than yesterday but 30 fewer than a week ago.
In the past 24 hours, only 106,261 PCR and antigen rapid tests were registered – as always less at the weekend. 100,845 of these were meaningful PCR tests. So far, 233,481,660 corona tests have been carried out. The positive rate of the PCR tests was 7.3 percent, which was above last week’s average of 5.9 percent.
Current vaccination numbers will not be published on the Easter weekend. Maintenance work was given as the reason for this.
