In Peru they propose chemical castration for rapists

In a statement released by the Peruvian Presidency, Castillo assured that “crimes of sexual violence against boys and girls will not be tolerated by this Government, nor will they go unpunished.” Likewise, he called for “more severe public policies.”

“Chemical castration is an option, we cannot wait any longer,” said Castillo, who later clarified that the measure must be included in the Penal Code and for this it must be approved in Congress.

The president described the event as “atrocious and inhumane” and asked the Congress of the Republic of Peru to support it with “concrete measures in favor of the most vulnerable.”

“We cannot continue to tolerate these violent acts that damage our integrity as a society and destroy the lives of the defenseless,” he added.

The Presidency of Peru specified that chemical castration consists of administering drugs that reduce libido and inhibit sexual desire and is used as “a method of prevention against sexual assault, and also as punishment for those who commit crimes of this nature.”

To reinforce his proposal, Pedro Castillo stressed that in countries such as Russia, Poland, South Korea, Indonesia and Moldova the same measure is applied, as in seven states of the United States.

The 3-year-old girl disappeared on Tuesday, April 12, and a day later the National Police found her and arrested the alleged culprit, Juan Antonio Enríquez García, a 48-year-old taxi driver who was accused of the crimes of “sexual rape” and “kidnapping”. to the detriment”.

The kidnapping of the girl had been captured by a security camera. In the images, it is seen how Enríquez García carries the girl and puts her in the passenger seat of a light blue car.

The tests carried out at the Institute of Legal Medicine (IML) confirmed that the girl had been a victim of sexual abuse. “I want the rapist to die, to be killed inside, because he had no mercy with my daughter, he had no mercy, it is an enormous damage that he has done to her,” the minor’s father said in tears.

In addition, relatives and neighbors tried to lynch Juan Antonio Enríquez García when the police transferred him and burned his house.

The National Prosecutor’s Office announced on Thursday that nine months of preventive detention were issued against the detainee and maintained that “the accused would receive the maximum sentence of life imprisonment.”

“Without a doubt, based on the facts, evidence and flagrant acts, there is no doubt that what corresponds here is a life sentence for this monster, who has attacked the integrity of a human being as vulnerable and sensitive as this minor” , said the Minister of Justice, Félix Chero.
