33 athletes took part in the first parkrun in Linz

LINZ. On Holy Saturday at nine o’clock sharp the time had come: the Danube Cycle Path parkrun took place for the first time. “I’m totally happy, everything worked the way we imagined. The feedback was very positive,” says organizer Uli Koller, who brought the global running event (five kilometers are always run on Saturday mornings without any pressure) to Linz (we reported).

33 runners, joggers and walkers (aged ten to 70) started at the new railway bridge. The diversity of nationalities was also great, with athletes from Scotland and New Zealand taking part. A competitor from England had a special reason to be happy with her hundredth parkrun. Next Saturday, nine o’clock sharp, is the next parkrun. Koller’s hope: more spring-like weather and even more enthusiastic participants. Info: parkrun.co.at/donauradweg
