It was 10:25 p.m. on Sunday when a male voice called the Linz city police command: He was going to detonate a bomb. The threat was aimed at a nightclub in the Neue Heimat district in the south of Linz.
Several patrols set off immediately, and the Red Cross was also called to the scene as a precaution. The officials immediately arranged for the evacuation of the bar, in which 250 to 300 visitors were staying at the time, as informed by the press office of the Upper Austria State Police Directorate. The guests were taken to a safe distance from the threatened location. Roadblocks were also erected around the area for safety.
But a search of the nightclub, also with sniffer dogs specializing in explosives, was unsuccessful. Therefore, the police released the nightclub at 12:45 a.m. for the guests. The investigation into dangerous threats is ongoing. The Linz criminal police is asking for relevant information on 059133 45 3333.
