An Easter weekend with numerous accidents and reckless drivers

One fatality, numerous injuries and irresponsible drivers: From the point of view of the emergency services, the Easter weekend was a great challenge.

Mühlheim am Inn: The motorcycle ride of a group of eight ended tragically on Friday in the Innviertel. When the leading driver, a 47-year-old German, wanted to turn left in the district of Mühlheim am Inn (Ried district), a fellow countryman (56) following behind may have noticed the braking maneuver too late. The two collided and fell, injuring themselves. The 56-year-old was so heavy that he had to be taken to the Braunau hospital by emergency helicopter. He succumbed to his injuries there on Saturday.

Perg: Yesterday at 1 a.m. an unknown driver hit a 21-year-old pedestrian with his car on Machlandstrasse in Perg. The young man was thrown into the ditch and taken to the hospital with injuries. The driver committed a hit-and-run, but lost the cover of a dark blue exterior mirror in the accident. The police are asking for information on Tel. 0 59 133 / 4320.

Linz: A 78-year-old driver in Linz committed a hit-and-run on Sunday. After the woman from the Linz-Land district slammed on the brakes in the Bindermichl tunnel due to the formation of a column, a subsequent driver (79) drove into her car, injured herself and had to be hospitalized. The 78-year-old just kept going. However, the police found her at the Ansfelden motorway parking lot, where she was waiting for the breakdown service with her damaged car. She was reported.

Regua: In Regau (Vöcklabruck district), two cars collided head-on on Easter Sunday at around 1:30 p.m. on the B145 for reasons that are still unknown. One of the cars fell over the embankment and landed on its roof. The 34-year-old driver was injured and taken to the Vöcklabruck hospital. Just like the second link (49). His wife and two children, who were also in the car, were not injured.

Oberwang: During an overtaking maneuver on the Westautobahn in Oberwang (Vöcklabruck district), a Slovakian (35) lost control of her car on Saturday. She pushed the car she was trying to overtake off the roadway, causing it to collide with a concrete wall. Luckily no one was injured. However, an alcohol test on the person who caused the accident revealed a blood alcohol content of 1.62, which is why her driver’s license was revoked. Her five-year-old daughter was in the back seat when she crashed.

Ternberg: In Ternberg (Steyr Land district) on Saturday at 10:15 p.m., a 21-year-old and a 24-year-old got out of a shuttle bus and wanted to cross the street behind the bus. They ran in front of the car of a 17-year-old driver who could no longer avoid it. The collision resulted in the 24-year-old being seriously injured. She was admitted to the Kepler University Hospital. The 21-year-old was also injured and was taken to the Steyr hospital.

Sierning: For reasons that are still unknown, a 17-year-old driver from the Kirchdorf district in Sierning (Steyr-Land district) missed a left-hand bend at around 2:30 a.m. yesterday and crashed head-on into a tree. He and his four passengers aged 17 to 19 were slightly injured in the accident and were taken to the hospitals in Steyr and Kirchdorf by the rescue workers.
