One witness found it suspicious that a 42-year-old Hungarian loaded two televisions into his private car from a loading ramp in the Gmunden district one night in mid-April, although he should have loaded his company truck at another loading ramp.
He informed the police, who were already waiting for the 42-year-old at his car when he returned from his truck tour. In the car, the officers found the television and about 45 liters of diesel, including utensils for pumping out fuel. In the man’s apartment, investigators found an exercise bike, food, electrical appliances and clothing. The investigation also revealed that the man had stolen several hundred liters of diesel fuel from his company truck and that he was very likely responsible for the theft of video games and kitchen appliances in December of the previous year. After his interrogation, during which he partially confessed, he was taken to Wels Prison by order of the Wels public prosecutor’s office.
Only later did it turn out that the 42-year-old also had a garage near his apartment. There, the police saw through a window that several boxes with garden scarifiers in their original packaging were parked. Just a few minutes later, the accused’s 39-year-old brother appeared and tried to put the items in his car to take them away. He was observed by the police and arrested.
All items in the garage – fuel, electrical appliances, household items, clothing, furniture and food – were secured. During the house search ordered by the Wels public prosecutor’s office in the 39-year-old’s apartment, the police officers secured further stolen goods. The extent to which the 39-year-old was also traveling with his brother is still the subject of investigations. He is reported to the public prosecutor’s office in Wels on the loose.
