1.4 million want to know what Lisa from Braunau does

BROWNAU. More than 1.4 million follow her on TikTok. More than 1.4 million – that’s almost as many as the whole of Upper Austria has inhabitants. Lisa Böselsbacher from Braunau has long been a star for many. The 19-year-old no longer has to be surprised when young people stand in front of their parents’ house and want to see their room. Because from this she often keeps her followers up to date about her everyday life – with short videos about school, hair coloring, her dog Charly, her thoughts and often also about mental illnesses and her therapists. The followers thank her with likes and comments. And want a picture with her if they recognize her on the street. “They have a lot to do with my life, so they often see me as something like a good friend,” says the 19-year-old. But she doesn’t let strangers into her room. The fans understand that. It is often very young followers who have not thought much about it.

Even the dog Charly is recognized

Quite calmly and honestly, she talks about her life as an influencer that morning in her parents’ dining room, which differs greatly from that of other girls her age in many ways. Just go to the outdoor pool? Probably not, she is often filmed and photographed without her knowledge. The same goes for a walk with the dog Charly. Even he’s recognized when he’s out with her parents.

Why are you following so many? She doesn’t know the exact reason. But with the short, honest, self-deprecating videos, she seems to have hit the nerve of the times. Everything started very differently. “I’ve always loved making videos. In the beginning, TikTok was more related to music, so I made videos with music and uploaded them for my friends,” she says. She liked that. At one point, she decided to just shoot and upload with her own voice, with no music in the background. “I posted it and then had a doctor’s appointment. On the way I thought I’d delete it again, nobody cares. After the appointment, thousands of people saw it,” she says.

Lisa is talking to Lisa

So she kept going. Your concept back then? soliloquy. Lisa is talking to Lisa. She did it for about a year, and she was able to win more and more followers. “And then it wasn’t fun anymore, so I just did something else. Now I post whatever comes to my mind,” says the 19-year-old. She is not naïve because she is well aware of her responsibility. “I’m very careful about what I say because I know I’m influencing a lot of people,” she says. This is also her top creed when it comes to cooperation with companies.

Because of course, they have long since become aware of an influencer of their size. A manager in Vienna helps her to find her way through the jungle of inquiries. “I only want to enter into cooperation with companies that we have researched beforehand. Companies with a bad reputation or opaque supply chains fall through,” she says. She couldn’t reconcile that with her conscience. What would she never promote? Meat. “I’m a vegetarian,” she says.

She’s been making money with her TikTok profile for a long time – and good money at that. “I’m considering hiring someone to help me out a bit,” she says. Because in addition to a tax consultant, manager and dad who helps with the bookkeeping, she could use even more support.

Your tool: the smartphone

She wants to continue shooting and editing herself – even if the experience with a “cutter” was good, “I want to be in charge of it myself,” she says. All she needs is her cell phone. But she needs time. She wants to take it after graduation, for a year she will only devote herself to social media. “I’ve often had to work night shifts, but that’s not possible in the long run,” she says. After that she can imagine studying. “I don’t know how much longer everything will go so well,” says Lisa.

She takes a break from social media from time to time. “Then the first inquiries come, whether I’m fine anyway,” she says and is happy about the support. Because “haters” also exist. “But then I just feel sorry for them,” she says, not taking critical comments too much to heart. Because it is still the positive ones that outweigh.
