Almost seven years Vodafone Germany CEO: Ametsreiter leaves

He wants to devote himself to new tasks in private equity and investors in the telco and tech sector, “as an investor and shareholder”. Ametsreiter, born on January 20, 1967 in Salzburg, is also a member of the Executive Committee of the globally active British Vodafone Group.

Ametsreiter is to succeed Philippe Rogge as the new CEO of Vodafone Germany and a member of the Group Executive Committee with effect from July 1, 2022, according to a statement by the company from Düsseldorf on Tuesday evening. The new CEO comes from Microsoft. Rogge has worked there for over ten years, including the last five years in the role of President for Central and Eastern Europe. From Germany he managed sales, distribution channels and marketing

“I have decided to leave Vodafone. To start something new again in my mid-50s,” Ametsreiter posted on LinkedIn on Tuesday afternoon. His future path will take him from the corporate to the private equity and investor side. “There I want to get involved in growth areas in the telco and tech sector, to be active as an investor and shareholder,” he explained. He is leaving Vodafone “with deep gratitude”.

He had “thought a lot in the last few weeks” – about his quarter of a century in telecommunications. And his almost seven years at Vodafone, “years I’ve had the honor of working with 16,000 of the most amazing colleagues on the planet”. As difficult as this is for him, he will finish writing this chapter in the next few months.

Before joining Vodafone, the now 55-year-old Ametsreiter had been CEO and Group CEO of the listed Telekom Austria Group in Vienna for six years, as well as CEO of A1 Telekom, which was created from the merger of Mobilkom Austria AG and Telekom Austria TA AG.
