BROWNAU. The Braunau hospital has put a new shock room into operation. Technically state-of-the-art, fully digitized and air-conditioned, this is located right next to the computer tomography, which also “shortens” the distances within the house. Seriously injured people should be given first aid even more efficiently and quickly.
Spatial Optimization
“The biggest advantage of the new shock room is the immediate proximity to the computer tomography in the next room. This makes the distances shorter and the entire first aid and initial diagnosis even faster and more efficient. We have a fully digitized X-ray available for the initial diagnosis. This shortens the waiting times Images and the associated information are clear,” says Jürgen Barth, head of the orthopedics and traumatology department, to which the shock room belongs organizationally. A positive side effect is that if the X-ray in the accident ortho-ambulance fails, the X-ray in the shock room can be used as a backup X-ray. The entire technology, including ventilation and air conditioning, is now state-of-the-art.
After emergency medical first aid, the seriously injured are taken to the shock room and stabilized. The Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology at the Braunau Hospital is part of the Salzburg Trauma Network.
“Participation in a trauma network serves to optimize the process and structural quality through a certified network of inspected hospitals in a region that regularly take part in the care of seriously injured people,” says the head of the department.
Appropriate training for the hospital staff was carried out prior to commissioning. Furthermore, all Red Cross offices in the Braunau district and in neighboring Bavaria were informed, directions and location sketches were sent and new chip cards were issued to ensure access to the new shock room, according to the Braunau hospital.
