The infections are declining in all federal states, which means that only Burgenland will be switched to red at the Corona traffic light tonight, as can be seen from the working document of the responsible commission. This time, Vorarlberg and Carinthia have also made it into the orange zone of the already high risk.
It was never enough for the yellow area of medium risk, Salzburg is the closest. The risk number 50 would be necessary, in Salzburg this value, which, in addition to infections, also includes the age of the infected, vaccination status, number of asymptomatic people and the like, is 66.5. The other federal states are quite close together between 73.4 (Styria) and 87.6 (Carinthia and Vorarlberg). The only outlier is Burgenland with 141.4, which clearly exceeds the threshold from red (very high risk) to orange (high risk) with a risk number of 100.
There is hardly any testing in the West
Of course, there is no need to be too euphoric about the decline in the numbers, which is 35 percent on average over the past 14 days. Because the number of tests is falling massively. Last week it was just 16,401 per 100,000 inhabitants. A week ago it was almost 38,400, two weeks ago a good 51,200, three weeks ago, when the quota system was not yet effective, even 58,800.
An example is the decline in Vienna, which is particularly keen on testing: three weeks ago, almost 105,000 tests per 100,000 inhabitants were issued. Now less than a third is tested as often, with the good 33,600 still being by far the highest test value. By reducing the number of tests, fewer asymptomatic cases are caught. In the federal capital three weeks ago it was 67 percent of the infections found, where the sick people had no symptoms during the test, now it is only 55 percent. In the west, there is hardly any testing at all. In Tyrol one has arrived at 3,800 to 100,000 inhabitants.
Zell am See has the lowest incidence
Accordingly, the ratio of those who tested positive also increases. In Tyrol, the so-called positivity rate of all tests combined climbed from 4.8 to an impressive 13.3 percent. In Vienna, by comparison, the increase was only from two to 2.7 percent. This indicates that a lot is still being tested in the federal capital even without the suspicion of an infection.
No significant changes are expected in the hospitals in the near future. No upward or downward trend is forecast for the next two weeks in either the normal or intensive care units.
After all, the downturn in infections found across the whole of Germany can be noted. With the exception of the small statutory town of Rust, all districts show a declining 14-day trend. District with the highest incidence is currently – with the exception of Rust – Neusiedl am See. Zell am See has the cheapest value.
