A cell phone video released Thursday by TMZ shows the 55-year-old former heavyweight champion punching a young man in the face behind him on the plane behind him.
According to “TMZ”, the passenger provoked Tyson and did not stop talking to him. “Iron Mike” was initially friendly, but then asked the man to calm down. When the passenger failed to do so, Tyson hit him several times, the website reports, citing a witness. In a photo and in the video it can be seen that the passenger suffered minor head injuries:
The incident reportedly happened while Tyson was about to fly to Florida from San Francisco. The boxer left the machine before the start. The police, the airline JetBlue and representatives of Tyson initially did not comment on the incident.
Notorious for his hard punches, Tyson is considered one of the greatest heavyweight boxers in history. However, he repeatedly made negative headlines and got into trouble with the law. In the early 1990s, he was sentenced to several years in prison after allegations of rape.
