57 injured in riots on the Esplanade of the Jerusalem Mosques

“The president (of the Palestinian Authority, Mahmoud Abbas) called for the urgent intervention of the US administration to put an end once and for all to the Israeli scale in the Palestinian Territories,” Hussein al-Sheikh, a Palestinian Authority official, said after the meeting.

The riots in the Temple Mount were preceded by an escalation of tension in the volatile area due to a series of attacks on Israeli cities and police operations, sometimes deadly, against Palestinians in the West Bank.
