BMW renews the 7 Series and puts it under power

7 x 7 = 45. Of course, this calculation is only correct for the Bavarian car manufacturer BMW. Finally, 45 years after the debut of the 7 Series, the seventh generation of the luxury sedan was presented this week.

And for the first time, the Bavarian flagship will be electrified. The new 7 Series comes with a combustion engine, plug-in hybrid drive and as a fully electric version as the i7 – in November 2022. All three variants of the new 7 Series will be built on one assembly line at the Dingolfing plant.

Inside, the sedan is not only extremely comfortable, but also completely digitized. What is new is the so-called “Curved Display”, a fully digital display network with two screens. The range of entertainment in the rear is unique – with the 31.3-inch screen with integrated Amazon TV protruding from the roof lining.

At the market launch in Europe there will initially only be the fully electric BMW i7, the variants with plug-in hybrid and six-cylinder diesel will follow in 2023. The BMW i7 xDrive60 has four-wheel drive as standard, two electric motors with a system output of 400 kW ( 544 hp) and achieves a range of up to 625 kilometers.

A lithium-ion battery with a net capacity of 101.7 kilowatt hours (kWh) serves as energy storage for the 5.4 meter long, whisper-quiet sedan; The Bavarians state the maximum charging capacity as 195 kW.
