At around 8 p.m. on Friday, a 46-year-old Polish citizen drove a friend’s car on Linzer Straße, coming from Linz in the direction of Hörsching. His 41-year-old Polish friend was in the passenger seat. At the intersection of Linzer Strasse and Neubauer Strasse, the driver wanted to turn right in the direction of Hörsching, slipping off the brake and therefore driving straight on.
At the same time, a 50-year-old from the Linz-Land district, together with a 55-year-old in the passenger seat, steered a car from Neubauer Strasse onto Linzer Strasse. A collision occurred at the intersection. The two Poles then pushed their car, which was no longer drivable, out of the crossing area and fled separately from the scene of the accident.
The 50-year-old then pursued the fleeing passenger and stopped him until the police arrived. During the search carried out, the 46-year-old Polish driver was also picked up in the vicinity of a gas station in Hörsching.
A alcohol test carried out on the 46-year-old resulted in a blood alcohol level of 0.36, and the police officers also secured two grams of cannabis – he was also unable to produce a valid driving license because it had already been revoked – it is displayed several times. The other two involved suffered injuries of an unspecified degree as a result of the accident, and the 55-year-old was taken to the hospital by the rescue team.
