There were 101,451 active cases in the country, down 5,236 from the day before. The positive rate of the PCR tests carried out within this period was 6.3 percent. This value is above the average of the past week (an average of 4.2 percent of the PCR tests positive).
The seven-day incidence was 592.9 cases per 100,000 population. Since the beginning of the pandemic there have been 4,099,049 confirmed cases in Austria. 3,979,563 people have recovered since the outbreak of the epidemic, and 11,753 were considered healthy again within the past 24 hours.
19 deaths have been reported since yesterday. In total, the Covid 19 pandemic has claimed 18,035 lives in Austria since it broke out. However, at the beginning of the week it became known that many more people in this country had died of or with Corona, and numbers from the federal states were gradually being reported later due to a data comparison. The dashboard of the Agency for Health and Food Safety (AGES) had already recorded 19,402 deaths on Friday afternoon.
1,575 people were in the hospital on Saturday, 52 fewer than yesterday. 121 patients were cared for in intensive care units. That number fell by six since yesterday and is down by 39 patients in a week.
A total of 113,301 rapid PCR and antigen tests (including 103,346 PCR tests) and 5,886 vaccinations (233 first, 714 second and 4,939 third bites) were registered in the past 24 hours. 6,146,300 people and thus 68.4 percent of Austrians have valid vaccination protection.
The federal state with the highest seven-day incidence is currently Burgenland with 1,140.4, followed by Lower Austria, Vienna and Vorarlberg (768.6, 716 and 578.4 respectively). Then follow Upper Austria (501.9), Carinthia (480.9), Salzburg (448.7), Styria (407.3) and Tyrol (358).
