And he added: “We are going to get there and we are going to win, because we started this change in 2008”, referring to the alliance of the Guasú Front and the Authentic Radical Liberal Party (PLRA) that that year brought Lugo to the presidency and cut with six decades of Colorado governments.

Ñemongeta Por una Patriua Nueva is headed by the FG but also includes Paraguay Pyahura, the Tekojoja and Participación Ciudadana parties, P-MAS, País Solidario and the Patria Nueva movement, among other sectors.

The name of Martínez – who was Minister of Health during the Lugo government – will be put into debate with other opposition forces, because there is indeed the aspiration of several parties to achieve a single binomial to face Colorado with chances, a possibility that the own fresh candidate.

Of those opposition forces, the PLRA promotes Efraín Alegre; National meeting with the deputy Kattya González; and Patria Querida to also deputy Sebastián Villarejo.

Although almost all the opposition forces share the so-called Coalition, the chance that they will go unified to the elections is just beginning to be discussed.

The electoral justice called internal to define applicants for December 18 and the election of the successor of Mario Abdo Benítez will be on April 30, 2023.
