The 120th General Assembly of the traditional Ebensee Mountaineering Association, which was also legendary due to its age, was held recently in the Gasthaus Auerhahn and was all about the retiring hut keepers Thomas Hemetsberger and Christina Hainzl, who said goodbye after 17 years of managing the Rinnerhütte. The corona pandemic also shaped the past club year 2021. The hut management was severely restricted. There was a decline, albeit a slight one, in the number of day visitors.
Loyalty to the club at the Ebensee Mountaineering Association, which has a total of 341 members, is proverbial. Last year six new members were welcomed.
Numerous members were honored for their long-term loyalty to the association. Paula Loidl has been a member of the Ebensee Mountaineering Association for an unusual 75 years. Herbert Ahamer, Josef Dascola, Anna and Karl Horak, Ernestine Krempl, Herbert Möschl, Karl Preimesberger, Alexander Ranzenbacher, Peter Steinkogler, Veronika Stöttinger and Josef Stüger were honored for 50 years of membership; for 40-year membership Sabine Daxner, Petra Edtmeier, Hans Födinger, Franz Lahnsteiner, Josef Stummer, Hedwig Stummer and Otto Stummer; Walter Mahringer has been with us for 25 years. Chairman Ernst Krempl introduced Birgit Mayer as the new boss of the Rinnerhütte, who will take over the management from next summer. The doctor, who was born in Lower Austria, discovered her love for the mountains of the Salzkammergut more than ten years ago.
Now the association has a construction project in store: the preparatory work for the renovation of the bedrooms on the upper floor of the Rinnerhütte has been completed. The new expansion will start in a few days and should be completed in time for the start of the season. The bridge over the Rinnerbach on Lake Offensee will also be rebuilt in the first half of the year. (high/gs)
