Last Sunday’s lottery draw was the seventh in a row that there were no sixes. This means that there are now almost three and a half years after the historical sensation called “Sevenfold jackpot“, which then ended with the previous record six of almost 15 million euros, for the second time in the history of Lotto Sevenfold jackpot. And with 10 million euros, a winning sum in the double-digit million range is again expected.
- The first lottery draw took place on Sunday September 7th, 1986. There was also the first six. A Styrian was the only one to guess the “six correct” 1, 20, 22, 24, 27 and 40 and won 6,542,159 schillings (475,437 euros).
- The first euro millionaires were from Vienna and from Lower Austria (without being able to know this at the time). They hit the jackpot on November 16, 1986 and won 13,836,098 shillings each.
- A Viennese was the first to tick the “right six” and the additional number on a betting slip on Sunday, June 28, 1987. This is possible on a system slip and 22 other players have managed to do so to date.
- The round with the most sixes was the one on Sunday, May 21, 1989. 23 players guessed the “six right numbers” – consisting only of even numbers – 2, 14, 16, 26, 28 and 40 and received 510,218 schillings each ( 37,079 euros). It was also the lowest six.
Mother and daughter independently guess a six
- There was a family “double whammy” in Carinthia in 1993: A Carinthian woman and her daughter each guessed a six in the same round, independently of one another. Both tried – successfully – their luck with the family birthday numbers. The two sixes brought around 4 million schillings (around 291,000 euros) each.
- The 1,000. Lotto Six cannot be clearly assigned. Because on April 28, 1996, an Upper Austrian and a Carinthian guessed “six correct numbers”, and those were six numbers 999 and 1,000.
- The first lotto drawing on a Wednesday took place on September 3, 1997. No one managed to pick a six, so it ended up with a jackpot.
- An Upper Austrian chose the system 0/08 for the drawing on February 2, 2000, which allowed him to tick eight numbers. Since he also guessed the additional number in addition to the “six right ones”, there were six fives with an additional number in addition to the six. His total winnings at the time were more than 13.6 million shillings (just under 1 million euros).

- On October 7, 2015, a Styrian (as one of two players) cracked the double jackpot and won around 1.6 million euros. In a phone call to the customer service center, he said that this was his second six. He scored the first ten months earlier in late November 2014; at that time it was a solo six after a double jackpot of around 3.6 million euros.
- The first six-fold jackpot occurred on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 and was played on Christmas Eve. A Lower Austrian and a Viennese each won 6.1 million euros.
