New boss for Linz mobility planning

In the Planning, Technology, Environment department of the Linz City Council, the signs are still pointing to change: As reported, Hans-Martin Neumann has been the new planning director since March 1st, and now there is also a generational change in the mobility planning department. On June 1, Roman Minke succeeds the previous head of department, Gerhard Karl, who is retiring. During his “term in office” (Karl has been the head of department since 1992) there were a number of major projects, including the Ebelsberg bypass, the new railway bridge and the tram extensions to Ebelsberg, Solar City and Traun.

Minke, who studied traffic management at the Joanneum University of Applied Sciences, is no stranger to Linz traffic. He is currently employed at Linz AG, and since 2015 Minke has been in charge of their line network and service planning department. In this function he is responsible, among other things, for the design of new transport services. The topic is, for example, the realization of the planned trolleybus routes 47 and 48 as well as the bus routes 13 and 14.

The Deputy Mayor responsible for transport, Martin Hajart (VP), is pleased that a “proven expert for this responsible position” has been found in Minke, who will bring new perspectives. Deputy Mayor HR officer Tina Blöchl (SP) sees Minke’s appointment as confirmation of the importance of the Linz magistrate as an attractive employer in the region. Hajart and Blöchl also thank Karl for his decades of service.
