GARDEN. “This project is designed for the coming decades and is an essential part of safety in the market community,” says Christian Aschauer, commander of the Garstner fire brigade, about the urgently needed renovation and expansion of the fire station. area is doubled
A total of 1.87 million euros will be spent on this. Almost a million of this comes from the state, 375,000 euros are contributed by the federal government plus special financing of 75,000 euros, around 240,000 euros are provided by the municipality, the rest is provided by the fire brigade from their own funds and through their own contributions. At the recent ground-breaking ceremony, Mayor Anton Silber, head of department Harald Rosensteiner, master builder Paul Neuburger and Markus Mitterschiffthaler, representing the construction company, were certainly impressed by the project.
The total area of the fire station is to be doubled from 400 to 800 square meters, and the building will also be brought up to date in terms of energy technology. The shell of the building should be finished in July, and the entire project should be completed in June 2023.
“We have to continue operations during the conversion,” says Aschauer, whose fire department has been planning the expansion for around ten years. During this time, the community provided excellent support in all situations, no matter how difficult. In addition to future 5.5 parking spaces – according to Aschauer, a “half” parking space is sufficient for a command bus, for example – storage areas for civil protection, separate sanitary facilities and changing facilities for the community’s largest fire brigade with around 100 comrades will also be created. Incidentally, women have also been part of the Garstner Wehr since 1999. Around 25 are currently in action, 17 of them in the youth group.
As the next of the five Garstner fire brigades, the one from Oberdambach will be able to count on a new building from 2026.
