What does it really take for a club’s infrastructure to be suitable for the third division? The OÖN took a closer look at the regional league minimum requirement and came to the conclusion: If a club wants, nothing stands in the way of promotion.
The A and B criteria are those points from the regulations that must be met in order for a sports facility to be approved for the regional league. For example, the correct pitch length (at least 90 x 60 meters), a doping control room and a minimum number of ten car parking spaces and one bus parking space for the guest team and referees are required. That shouldn’t pose a problem for any club.
Curious: A lack of floodlights or a grandstand are no reason not to meet the minimum requirement. These are only C criteria: These are only recommendations that do not have to be implemented.
If a club tries not to meet the A criteria, it will also succeed: if a club does not have a covered substitute bench for twelve people, for example, it can already apply for non-promotion. In the case of Oedt in 2018, among other things, a lack of sanitary facilities for the referees was the sticking point.
It is still failing at the moment: “We are not allowed to touch the clubhouse, it is in a water protection area,” says Oedt-Boss Grad. Nevertheless, the excavators will soon roll in: there is finally the green light for a grandstand and the floodlights. Construction work will start in May – the last two home games of the season will probably take place in Hörsching.
