Why we shouldn’t mow the lawn in May
Several environmental organizations in England and the USA declare May the month when you shouldn’t mow the lawn. “No Mow May” is the name of the initiative, whose message is: If the lawn is not mowed, a flower meadow is created that offers a rich buffet for important creatures such as bees, butterflies and bumblebees. “If you mow the lawn less, you can get ten times more bees to visit,” says Simon Demeulemeester from the Belgian magazine Knack, which supports the campaign. Anyone who wants to take part but is reluctant to not mow the entire lawn for four weeks can also leave part of the lawn standing. “I think that’s a really good idea,” says OÖN organic gardener Karl Ploberger.

15 years after cancer diagnosis finally pregnant
A pregnancy that is unique in Austria occurred at the Innsbruck University Clinic. A former cancer patient had ovarian tissue frozen 15 years ago in a procedure that was still experimental at the time. The tissue has now been reinserted, and the woman became pregnant naturally after just six months. It was not possible to freeze egg cells in order to give chemo patients a chance to conceive. This would have required hormonal stimulation for three weeks. The woman had to start chemo immediately.
