Help for Ukraine

Since the outbreak of the war, around 29,000 euros in donations have gone to the “Wels hilft Ukraine” donation account set up by the city. Mayor Andreas Rabl and security officer Gerhard Kroiß handed over the check to district rescue commander Andreas Heinz yesterday. The Red Cross forwards the money to the Red Cross in Ukraine and neighboring countries, from where the donations are used to provide the necessary help on site. “The Red Cross makes sure that the money really gets to where it’s needed,” emphasize Rabl and Kroiss.

The city also supports Ukrainian students together with the University of Applied Sciences. Three of them can live in a city-owned apartment downtown for free. There are currently 16 Ukrainian students at the FH OÖ Campus Wels. They all attend a German course first this semester.
