The nerves in the hall were on edge. Ten-year-old Annika from Steyr floated several meters above the ground, at the top of a tower of dancers. As she backed down, the audience gasped for a moment before they could breathe again: the girl landed in the arms of her fellow dancers.

The audience acknowledged the impressive choreography with standing ovations – and the jury was also enthusiastic. “You guys are so brave and your parents even more so,” Amanda Holden said with a smile. Music producer Simon Cowell continued the hymn of praise: “You are a genius and should be very proud of yourself,” he said in the direction of the “chief acrobat” Ossi, who thanked him visibly touched.

“The Freaks are totally OUT OF THIS WORLD” – that’s how the show “Britain’s Got Talent” titled the performance. See (and be amazed) for yourself:

From St. Valentin into the world

“The Freaks”, as the team from St. Valentin calls themselves, have made it: they are in the semi-finals of “Britain’s Got Talent”, one of the biggest talent shows in the world. The acrobatic talents have already made a name for themselves internationally. For their 10th anniversary, they went to Hong Kong in 2019, where they performed in front of 155,000 spectators at the New Year’s Eve parade. Other stations were Bahrain, Amsterdam, Helsinki or the OÖN Gala Night of Sports in the Brucknerhaus. The Valentiner can also show casting experience. For example, they were successful on ORF’s “Great Chance”, on the RTL show “Das Supertalent” or “France got Talent”.

Around 30 acrobats – children, teenagers and young adults – belong to the group. Many of them come from Upper Austria, such as 17-year-old Paula from Kirchberg-Thening. She is a student at the Upper Austrian Dance Academy and will be leaving her home country in three weeks when the “Freaks” in England are fighting for a place in the final. So from May 23rd to 30th it’s time to keep your fingers crossed.
