Criticism of environmental policy

“Despite the abundance of information and evidence of environmental crimes, the government’s control measures are still far below what is needed to curb deforestation,” said Ana Paula Valdiones of the Instituto Centro de Vida (ICV).one of the groups involved in the platform, in a statement.
The cases in which federal authorities responded corresponded to 13.1% of the total deforested area from January 2019 to March 2022, MapBiomas said.
This is the latest thorny news on the environment for the Brazilian president, who has drawn international criticism for an increase in deforestation and fires in the Amazon, a strategic resource in the race to curb climate change.
